A Roman Catholic Community of faith serving the Lord in word and deed

Lit. Ministries - Lectors

Lectors proclaim the Word of God which is a vital part of the Holy Mass.  God is present and speaks when we proclaim His Word.  We speak in a clear way, with gentleness, strength, and wonder, and with the conviction of its truth and value in our lives, so that His message can touch the hearts and minds of our listeners.  We prepare ourselves with prayer and reflection upon the passages to understand them.  Being a Lector is a privilege and an important ministry in our parish.

Lectors are volunteer men and women who have been trained to share God's Word and themselves with the members of our parish community.  Lectors proclaim the first and second readings during the liturgy of the Word at Mass and also assist at other liturgical services.  Training and spiritual enhancement programs are provided on a regular basis.  Lectors should check in approximately 15 minutes prior to Mass. If you are unable to read as scheduled, please contact other lectors to substitute.

Through the proclamation of the Scriptures and the preaching of the Word of God the Church is continually renewed and made Holy.  Is God calling you to serve the Church in this ministry?  If so, please contact the Parish Office and at 918-744-0023.
